Bishop of Jerusalem Visits Ardess

Two Bishops standing in Ardess Parish Church Ardess Parish was delighted to welcome The Right Reverend Suheil Dawani to address the Confirmation candidates on Whitsunday, 11th May 2008. The Rite of Confirmation was conducted by The Right Reverend Dr Michael Jackson, Bishop of Clogher. During the service the Bishop of Jerusalem presented each of the candidates with a small olivewood cross brought from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Both bishops and the capacity congregation were invited to Ardess Parish Centre for a buffet lunch following the service.

Service of Dedication & Consecration

On Sunday 2nd September Bishop Michael Jackson officiated at a special service for the dedication of memorial gifts and the consecration of Ardess graveyard extension.

Gifts

Land for graveyard extension given in loving memory of Herbert Knox by his wife Isobel, son Ashley and daughter Viola.

Portion of land for vehicular access to cemetery given in loving memory of the Very Reverend Sterling Mortimer (MA) by Stephen & Jacqueline Mortimer and family

Cemetery gates and Ardess cemetery name stone – gift of Thomas & May Simpson (Aughaleague) in loving memory of Thomas & Sydney Simpson

Upper section of cemetery wall and pillar – gift of Harold & Wilma Graham in loving memory of Harold’s grandparents Samuel & Eleanor Birney and Uncles Thomas & Jonas
