Parish Walk - Saturday 30th June
5 July 2007
The day started in typical June fashion…with persistant drizzle. And by the time we drove to Glencolumbkille it was worse! Undaunted we set off and within half-a-mile we were taking off our wet-weather gear as the skies cleared and the sun came out (perhaps the advantage of having the Rev. Henry with us?) At the four-mile stage it was time for refreshments; the view was fabulous and the craic was great.
We then started the journey back via the cliff tops – with their spectacular 1000ft sheer drop to the sea – passing the Beacon on the headland before the final descent to Glencolumbkille. Seven walkers took part, five men and two ladies, and we covered approximately eight miles in about five-and-a-half hours…no need to rush!
A good day was had by one and all.
