Focusfest 2009
19 June 2009 EM: focusfest

From small beginnings Focusfest, which was founded in 1993, has become one of Europe’s biggest events for Christian women drawing together women from different denominations, backgrounds and locations.

“It’s hard to think that this time last week we were getting ready to go to Focusfest, and we were in for a real treat as usual. Tricia McCary Rhodes was the keynote speaker, and the theme for the weekend was ‘Worship’.
Tricia brought home to us in the first session that the reason God had created us was for his pleasure and joy, and every time we worship him we gladden his heart. It’s not about the things we do at all, but about our Maker’s plan to transform us into joy-filled worshippers.
In the next session she concentrated on how God looks beyond our unworthiness; he is a God who waits for us. She painted a picture of Jesus sitting in our living-room and just waiting for us to take the time to be with him. He wants to show us who he is.
Finally, she talked about our destiny—which is to give God pleasure. God gets pleasure out of saving us, restoring us; he is the lover of our souls; he gets pleasure from his unique call on our lives; and finally he gets pleasure from rewarding us.
We all came home fired-up and ready to face another year, with a new understanding of what God is really like, his role in our lives and what our role is in his.
Needless to say we have booked again for Focusfest 2010!”
